Informational Websites/Books and Latest Medical News

The following is a link to websites that I would consider having accurate information on the diagnosis and treatment of blood disorders and cancer.
http://www.uptodate.com/patients/index.html ; a huge number of physicians use this site through the physician’s link and it is also quite useful for patients
www.mayoclinic.com
www.mskcc.org
www.webmd.com
http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/
http://www.radiologyinfo.org – this is a good website on radiology scans and what you should expect during the scan
Cancer.net

A great herbal medication guide is on this link by Memorial Sloan Kettering.

The following are books I have come across, read, or my patients recommend (and I agree with!) that may be of interest!

  • The Emperor of All Maladies (Siddartha Mukerjee). This book is a phenomenal review of the history of cancer dating back to ancient Egypt. It explores where the field has been and where it is going. I would recommend it for patients who are not newly diagnosed, but rather for patients to read some time after they are diagnosed.
